![]() ![]() Thanks for the very nice response and indeed your $5, especially as money is tight for you. A guy by the name of Bill Gates saw what they were doing and gave them a $12 million grant to expand on the Khan vision. The Khan Academy started in 2006 with an idea of doing something good for the world, like you. I for one support your efforts and I'm voting FOR YOU with my $$$. Here is hoping that all 40,000 down-loaders will do the right thing and $upport you. But again, every point you made in response to Walker's suggestions told me about your altruistic nature and a whole lot about doing good in this world. At some time, I know you will have to monetize IceCoder because you don't want it to die. I can only image your energy invested in this project and that it is only right to reap the benefits of your labor. ![]() I was shocked to read your response! I know how it is to have to pay bills and not know where you are getting the funds to do so. Reading Walker's points made sense so I thought for sure you would be going in those directions. I believe that if I intend to make a living from coding, then having the right tools and compensating the authors is good Karma. It isn't that I don't believe in paying for software. I'm not embarrassed to say that I even got a little chocked up reading your response because I don't know if I would have had the guts to NOT go the easy monetizing way with commercials (I hate commercials to the point that I have cut off my cable TV and that I can't afford it anyway anymore) and other "traditional" ways of making the public pay up. Those who are starting off learning new technologies (like myself) and who might have a financial burden. I just want to say that I'm humbled at your conviction to stay the course and bring IceCoder to the people who need it the most. I just read your response to Mark Walker regarding many approaches on monetizing IceCoder. ![]()
